IF YOU’D LIKE DISCOUNTS ON PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT, CONTACT JOHN ASAP AT 435-363-6555 AND TELL HIM YOU’RE FROM LAKE CREEK FARMS. IF YOU'RE TREATING IT THIS YEAR, YOU'LL NEED TO DO IT BEFORE ABOUT JUNE 1

With mature pine and spruce trees valued at about $100 per foot, many LCF homeowners have thousands – even tens of thousands – of dollars worth of trees.

Long a problem in Park City and more recently in Midway, Pine Tip Weevils (pissodes strobe) have found their way to Lake Creek Farms over the past two years. These weevils attack the tops of younger (up to 20’) spruce trees.  The weevil doesn’t completely kill trees, but does cause substantial damage that distorts and stunts growth.

While treatment will help prevent spread to neighboring trees, since the weevils can fly up to two miles, this is likely to be a long-term problem in our area. Treatment in early spring (before June 1) and fall is recommended.

Several Lake Creek Farms property owners have noticed this problem and Cory Williams alerted the HOA.

TREATMENT BY AN ARBORIST. John Walters – an arborist and owner of Park City Tree who comes highly recommended by Cory and Nate Orton (owner of Lone Peak Sprinkler and Landscape) – has agreed to offer substantial discounts to Lake Creek Farms property owners who would like him to treat their trees for Pine Tip Weevils and other pests.

Since spraying will only be effective for another two weeks or so, contact John ASAP at 435-363-6555 and mention you’d like the Lake Creek Farms discount. Depending on proximity and obstacles, John usually charges the greater of $75 per client, or about $10 per tree. If there are several interested owners in LCF, he’ll drop fees to new (and existing) clients to around $50 per client or around $7-8 per tree.
